Windscreens

Most modern cars are fitted with bonded laminated screens this means the glass is used as a structual member of the vehilcle and cannot shatter when damaged. This means that even damaged screens will still be structually sound and you can complete your journey safely as long as your vision is not impaired. You should however have a damage screen replaced as soon as possible or risk a defect ticket from the police, windscreen damage is also an mot failure.

Bonded screens are glued directly to the body of the veihcle using a polyurathane based glue and a series of primers to aid the bonding of the glass to the body. If a bonded screen is not fitted correctly it can cause the car to be weaker in the event of an accident and can also cause corrosion problems to the body of the vehicle.

Older vehicles are fitted with indirectly glazed screens, this basically means the glass is secured to the vehicle using a rubber gasket. This is a very simple and easy to replace method but if not sealed correctly can be prone to leaks

VinceScreens uses a flexable sealant that never dries or hardens on all indirectly glazed units to ensure you and your car stay dry.
